About Us:
BOAL Extrusion is a well-established aluminium extrusion mill based in Shepshed, Leicestershire, operational for 35 years. As a UK business, we specialise in providing high-quality extruded aluminium profiles to various industry sectors, including construction, transport, and solar. The UK company is part of BOAL Group and has a unique position in the value chain with its in-house aluminium extrusion facilities in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Our plant houses two extrusion presses and employs a team of 150 staff, predominantly operational and based onsite, with additional support from a small sales and management team.
As we continue to grow and shape our future as a more standalone UK business, we are seeking a proactive HR Manager to lead our human resource function.
About the Role:
As our HR Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring the HR strategy of the business aligns and supports the strategy of the business and growth plans for the next 3-5 years. You’ll be commercially aware and understand the importance, particularly in a manufacturing environment, of leading on; health and safety, the well-being of our workforce and promoting BOAL’s culture. You'll be an active member of the Senior Leadership team of BOAL UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- HR Strategies: Develop with the senior leadership team and implement strategies aligned with our business goals
- Company Culture: Champion alongside the senior leadership team to foster an employee-oriented culture emphasising quality, continuous improvement, and high performance.
- Work Environment: Working with the senior leadership team and manager to nurture a positive working environment where employees feel comfortable expressing their thoughts.
- Open Communication: Being visible on the shopfloor making regular people connections and organising quarterly townhall sessions.
- HR Policies & Procedures: Collaborate with leaders to ensure understanding of employee policies and procedures and support them in implementation and actioning in their teams.
- Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution: Foster a positive relationship between employees and the company by supporting the department manager to handle employee concerns and disputes, ensuring they are resolved promptly.
- Training & Development: Working with managers to understand their teams training needs, arranging for training to take place, raising purchase orders etc. Working with senior leadership team on driving the leadership development program across all levels of management.
- Recruitment & Selection: Work with managers and leading the recruitment process, arrange interviews, diary management, maintain KPIs on turnover and cost per hire. Agreeing with managers the requirements for their vacancies, contacting agencies and advertising on Indeed.
- HR Systems: Working with the Payroll and HR Advisor to implement a new HR System. Maintaining accurate HR records on Excel in preparation for migration to a cloud-based system. Also ensuring that all policies are reviewed and up to date and procedures are understood and followed across the business.
- Rewards & Incentives: Reviewing the company benefits on an annual basis with the third-party broker. Ensure that employees are aware of the benefits available to them, maintain and update the benefits program where necessary. Responsible for arranging long service awards and business celebration events.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure legal and GDPR compliance in HR practices.
- Onboarding & Offboarding: Working with manager to arrange and plan new employee onboarding. Arrange induction plans and welcome 121’s. Agreeing leave dates for employees. Arranging exit interviews and providing written confirmation of leaving date and business requirements.
- Payroll: Oversee the payroll function (one direct report).
- Operations Meetings: Attend the daily morning operations meeting, weekly Senior Leadership action meeting and monthly communications meeting. Arrange monthly 121’s with department managers to review their needs and support required.
The candidate:
This role would suit a candidate with prior experience in the manufacturing or engineering sectors.

Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years in HR leadership roles, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Experience in developing and implementing HR strategies that drive business performance.
Proven track record of handling complex employee relations and labour negotiations.
Experience in talent acquisition, retention strategies, and succession planning.
Demonstrated success in leading HR technology and digital transformation projects.
